What We Believe

  • The Bible is “God-breathed,” and is fully trustworthy as the final authority for faith and conduct (1 Corinthians 2:10-13; Galatians 1:11-12; 2 Timothy 3:16).
  • There is one God, who exists eternally in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Mark 1:10-11; John 1:1-3, 10:30, 16:7-11).
  • Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary and is truly God and truly human (Matthew 1:18; Luke 1:31-35; John 1:1, 14; 8:58; Philippians 2:6-8; Colossians 1:15-19).
  • The Holy Spirit is a person, being coequal with the Father and the Son. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. The Spirit guides us and gives us power to live a life which brings glory to God (John 16:7-11; Acts 1:8; 2 Peter 1:3).
  • Man was created in the image of God. All have sinned, bringing the consequences of physical death, and spiritual death, which is separation from God (Genesis 1:26, 2:17; Romans 3:23, 6:23).
  • Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and died on the cross to atone for our sins, in order to reconcile us to God. He was raised from the dead, and has gone to prepare a place in heaven for those who believe in Him. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and there is no other way to the Father but through Him. (John 14:1-6; Romans 4:25, 5:8-11; Ephesians 2:13-22; Hebrews 4:15).
  • We are saved from the penalty of our sin entirely through the work and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. No effort, on our part, can add to what Christ accomplished on the cross. We are justified and forgiven of our sin the moment we repent and trust in Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf. (Matthew 4:17; John 3:16; Romans 3:24; 5:1; 6:23; 10:10; 1 Corinthians 6:11; Galatians 2:16; 3:11; Ephesians 2:8-9).
  • In order to have eternal life with God we must be born again (also known as regeneration). This happens through the work of the Holy Spirit. We receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, becoming a “new creation,” upon our trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. As we conform to His will, and cooperate with His work, He transforms us, producing in us a more Christ-like character (John 1:12-13; John 3:3, 5-8; John 16:5-15; Romans 8:1-16; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 5:22-23; 1 Peter 1:23).
  • Christ will return with glory, and will judge the living and the dead. Those believing in Him will receive eternal life, while unbelievers will receive eternal punishment (Matthew 25:31-46; John 3:16-21).
  • The Body of Christ, which is the church, has been given the task of fulfilling the Great Commission of making disciples in the spirit of the Great Commandment of love (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 12:30-31).
